The International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists has revealed the keynote presentations for its 36th Congress this autumn in Perth, Australia.
The annual Congress takes place on 28 September to 1 October at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The opening keynote, on 29 September, is ‘Stronger together - Delivering innovative Australian botanical products by leveraging Western and Indigenous science’ by Dr. Katherine Locock.
Locock leads CSIRO’s Bioactive Natural Products team, overseeing expertise in botanical chemistry, analysis, and process scale-up.
Her keynote will explore how respectful partnerships between Indigenous knowledge holders and Western scientists are driving the development of novel skin-health ingredients while supporting ethical research, Indigenous leadership and community benefit.
The second keynote, on 30 September, is ‘An integrative longevity approach to modern skin health’ by Dr. Luc Aguilar, chief scientific officer of advanced research at L’Oréal R&I.
His keynote explores how advances in longevity science, artificial intelligence and multi-omics are transforming our understanding of skin resilience, enabling predictive diagnostics and personalised interventions that target the biological hallmarks of ageing.
Also on 30 September, the third keynote is ‘Artificial Intelligence Reshaping Cosmetic Innovation and Personalized Beauty’ by Dr. Fan Yang, chief R&D officer at Mageline.
This keynote explores how AI integrates skin characteristics, environmental factors, lifestyle data and consumer preferences to enable more precise product development and personalised skincare solutions.
On 1 October, the fourth and final keynote is ‘The Evolution of New Ingredient Innovation and Development through a Sustainable Lens’ by Dr. Julie Edgar, chief technology officer at Lubrizol.
This keynote explores how sustainable design principles can be integrated with emerging technologies to accelerate the creation of high‑performing, environmentally responsible ingredients for the cosmetics industry.
