Protecting hair is now a very important part of a healthy hair regime. More of us are living in cities and therefore the hair has to withstand everything that city life throws at it; such as pollution, stress, and long working hours.
On top of these environmental aggressions, more and more people are using instruments to style their hair such as hair tongs which add an additional level of stress onto hair fibres, due to the intense heat they are exposed to as well as the mechanical damage.
In order to help protect hair, ingredient suppliers are coming up with ingenious ways to offer additional support to the body’s natural defences. The result is a range of ingredients that includes claims that perhaps were once the preserve of skin care products. This appears to be the way the market is developing, with consumers looking to approach looking after their hair in a similar way to their skin.
