US cosmetic ingredient maker Actives International has appointed Michelle Carrillo as its chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Carrillo brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the beauty and personal care ingredient industry and joins Actives International at a time when brands are increasingly seeking innovative, sustainable, and globally acceptable ingredients that meet growing consumer demand for cleaner, safer, and more effective products.
The Lincoln Park, New Jersey outfit said Carrillo’s appointment reflects its commitment to delivering solution-based ingredients that begin with consumer benefits and are supported by science.
Building on the company’s foundation in natural products chemistry and fermentation technology, she will focus on expanding innovation, strengthening customer partnerships, and translating scientific advances into targeted, high-performance solutions for skin, scalp, and hair care.
“We are entering an exciting period of transformation in the beauty and personal care industry,” said Carrillo.
“Consumers increasingly expect products that are backed by science, responsibly sourced, and designed to deliver meaningful results. Actives International is uniquely positioned to help brands meet those expectations through our expertise in fermentation, natural products chemistry, and ingredient innovation.
She added: “Our goal is to help customers solve formulation challenges and create differentiated products that are effective, sustainable, and aligned with evolving consumer needs. I look forward to building on the company’s strong foundation of scientific excellence and customer partnership as we unlock new opportunities for growth.”
As CEO, Carrillo will lead the company’s next phase of growth—strengthening customer partnerships, expanding innovation, elevating market presence, and advancing Actives International’s evolution from ingredient supplier to innovation partner.
Actives International’s growth strategy centres on its Thoughtful Science philosophy, reflecting the company’s belief that ingredient innovation must not only deliver measurable performance but also meet growing consumer expectations for safety, transparency, sustainability, and global regulatory acceptance.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand its investments in bio-fermentation, including its ViaFerm line of proprietary fermented ingredients, which are clinically backed to address key opportunities across skin health, scalp wellness, barrier repair, sensitive skin, healthy aging, brightening, and overall skin appearance.
These efforts support growing market demand for cleaner, safer, and more sustainable personal care products without compromising performance.
“I am very proud to have Michelle on board as she leads us into the next chapter of our company’s efforts to deliver effective ingredients focusing on consumer needs,” said Jon Anderson, founder and president.
