The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) has opened the application window for the 2026 Green Star Award, which recognises sustainable formulation commercialised in the last 24 months.
The award sponsored by Colonial Chemical is open only chemists/formulators in the Finished Goods sector.
Products may not have previously been submitted for the award and must be either: currently in-market (available for purchase in any channel of distribution: e-commerce, retail, or via Amazon); or will be commercialized by December 2026.
The deadlines for submission are as follows:
- Completed online application and supporting documentation: Friday 14 August
- Receipt of five (5) samples in commercial packaging: Wednesday 19 August
A committee of cosmetic formulation and ingredient experts will rate each product application based on key Green Star Award criteria which includes:
• Product novelty
• Product efficacy
• Sustainable ingredients
• Sustainable processing
• Sustainable packaging
Winning product will be selected by the committee, and notification will occur on or about 3 October.
The primary formulator shall receive:
• Award certificate
• Honorarium
• Complimentary SCC membership for 2027
• Invitation to accept the award on-stage at SCC80 Awards Breakfast on 2 December in Los Angeles.
