Folic acid for topical use

Folic acid has well-established properties such as the ability to stimulate cell proliferation, to modulate DNA repair and to protect cells during UV exposure.

Traditionally, folic acid has not been used in cosmetic products very often, mainly due to difficulties in formulating it properly. DSM Nutritional Products, the only Western producer of folic acid, has now developed methods and guidelines to overcome issues and to offer to the customers all topical benefits of folic acid.

DSM Nutritional Products has also introduced a new form of vitamin A palmitate. This is protected with dl-alpha-tocopherol and the carrier is natural medium chain triglycerides (INCI: Caprylic/capric triglycerides). This new product quality is easy to handle (liquid) and guarantees that the formulation is GMO-free and peanutfree, increasingly reducing the potential risk of allergic reactions related to this ingredient.
