LipoTrue launches anti-odour ingredient

LipoTrue has launched N_llscent, an ingredient that is said to remove some of the odours from the feet, armpits, neck and stomach areas that become common after the age of 30 and are characteristic of elderly people.

Sebaceous and sweat glands secretions and skin waste are metabolised or oxidised to VOCs such as isovaleric acid and 2-nonenal. The cheesy smell from the former is produced by the metabolisation of sweat by the skin microbiome, while the latter, known as kareishu in Japanese, comes from oxidative degradation of omega-7 unsaturated fatty acids and also affects epidermal homeostasis and regeneration.

LipoTrue cites clinical tests that showed N_llscent turned the smell of isovaleric acid from the feet and armpits from ‘moderate’ to ‘slightly perceptible’ after 30 minutes, while 93% of volunteers saw reduction of the 2-nonenal odour in the neck and stomach in 30 minutes. The technology also cut lipid peroxidation by 32% in 77% of volunteers at 21 days.
