Croda is promoting its new UV protection hair product, ChromaVeil. Like skin, hair is susceptible to damage from overexposure to the sun. This damage affects the aesthetics of the hair and its mechanical and physical properties.

Dramatic mystical colour for cosmetics
Merck KGaA announced recently that it is launching two new synthetic effect pigments, Xirona Moonlight Sparks and Timiron Ice Crystal. Inspired by the magical colours of the moon, the new effect pigment Xirona Moonlight Sparks combines two refined technologies: brilliant shine and expressive colour travel from gold to silver that impart a noble character to cosmetics formulations.

Malaysia team reveals palm breakthrough
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) and Orion Genomics announced that they have sequenced three oil palm genomes from two oil palm species. This achievement could lead to higher yielding species being created for palm oil farmers while reducing pressure on the land it is produced from. E. guineensis is the commercial variety most commonly planted in Malaysia.
