Extremely mild amphoteric surfactant

Among new products being promoted by Evonik is TEGO Betain C 60, a very mild amphoteric surfactant for use in skin and hair cleansing products such as shampoos, shower and bath foams, and liquid soaps.

It is about 47% active matter and therefore higher in concentration than the more commonly used cocomidopropyl betaine (CAPB) which is 30% active matter. While standard CAPB is a gel, TEGO Betain C 60 remains liquid and is easy to handle and process.

It is characterised by low colour for use in light personal cleansing products. Very low odour is perceived, especially in formulations with pH>7. The active matter of TEGO Betain C 60 includes methanoylamidopropyl dimethyl glucine, a component which provides the additional benefit of skin moisturisation.
