Soothing sensitive skin

To provide sensitive skin with an immediate feeling of comfort, Silab has launched Mediacalm, a neurocosmetic soothing concept.

Obtained from Boerhavia diffusa, an Indian plant renowned for its antiinflammatory properties, the product is reported to promote a soothed, regenerated and moisturised skin. It reduces the amplification of the inflammatory reaction and limits neurogenic inflammation, restoring tissue integrity.

Mediacalm has both short- and long-term effects. An instrumental evaluation conducted on the cheeks of 27 healthy male volunteers showed the soothing effect of Mediacalm formulated at 4%. After a unique application of the product after shaving, an immediate and significant 22% reduction of the erythema was observed. The self-evaluation questionnaires given to the volunteers significantly confirmed these results.

A long-term study was conducted on the necks of 21 healthy male volunteers. After seven days of daily applications, Mediacalm, formulated at 4%, was shown to significantly reduce the erythema caused by repeated mechanical aggressions. This effect was observed in 90% of the volunteers.
