Powder effective in masking wrinkles

Dow Corning has announced a new silicone elastomer cosmetic powder that is effective in masking wrinkles and improving skin feel.

New Dow Corning 9701 Cosmetic Powder is highly effective in masking wrinkles, absorbing sebum, and providing a smooth, powdery feel, giving formulators new options in addressing the growing premium skin care market.

A spherical silicone elastomer powder coated with silica, Dow Corning 9701 Cosmetic Powder (INCI name: Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (and) Silica) can be used in a wide range of colour cosmetic, skin care and sun care products.

“This versatile powder addresses a growing trend of upscale consumers expecting a youthful look and skin care benefits from their colour cosmetics products,” said Myriam Delvaux, personal care segment leader at Dow Corning. “The combination of ease-of-use and multi-functional properties will allow formulators to differentiate their skin care and colour cosmetic applications and deliver the wrinklemasking effects, superior skin feel and sebum absorption that consumers demand.”

The unique composition absorbs fluid and enables the powder to flow freely without agglomeration, providing superior handling and processing ease. Easy dispersion in different media – even in the presence of pigments – makes it possible to introduce the product into a wide variety of formulations without using sophisticated processes or equipment.
