Innospec launches new surfactant

This breakthrough in product innovation is derived from natural feedstocks and can beused to prepare high-performance “sulphate-free” personal cleansing systems. Its introduction broadens the portfolio of mild surfactants, including taurates and isethionates, already available from Innospec. Pureact SLMI-85 is an isethionate ester, is extremely mild, and can be used as either a primary or secondary surfactant. It is perfect for systems where a dense, luxurious and long-lasting foam with elegant  after-feel is desired. Its flash foam is comparable to that of sodium laureth sulphate and it forms tight, thick, persistent bubbles. The secondary ester structure of Pureact SLMI-85 is more hydrolytically stable than many common ester surfactants. Formulation is therefore made easy thanks to Pureact SLMI-85’s stability over a wide pH range. It produces good slip, low tack on drying and has outstanding water solubility properties which allow it to be used in creating completely clear liquid cleansing formulations. In short, Pureact SLMI-85 provides all the benefits of sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) and eliminates the drawbacks. Significant creativity is achievable. Innospec will also showcase Finsolv benzoate esters, a range of emollients which are excellent solubilsers for cosmetic actives including those for sunscreens, anti-perspirant salts and fragrances. Finsolv TN is the “industry gold standard” in C12-15 alkyl benzoates thanks to its good colour profile, low odour and excellent spreadability.
