Roelmi HPC has carried out a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial to evaluate the ability of its ExceptionHyal Star food supplement to ameliorate skin conditions in adult females.
In all, 60 adult women took 200 mg/day of ExceptionHyal Star, which contains a wide range of hyalurons of different molecular weight, or a placebo, for 28 days. Dermatological parameters were evaluated on Days 0 and 28. Product efficacy and tolerance were further evaluated via a self-assessment questionnaire and hyaluronic acid serum levels were evaluated weekly in some subjects.
After 28 days, subjects in the active arm showed a statistically significant improvement in all the evaluated parameters related to skin ageing. Skin became more hydrated (+10.6%) and protected from dehydration, with a decrease in both wrinkle depth (-18.8%) and volume (-17.6%), and an increase in elasticity and firmness (+5.1%). The questionnaire results further confirmed this.
