Vantage Specialty Chemicals has completed an ongoing its investment at its site in Leuna, Germany, produce its Liponic EG-1 humectant (INCI: Glycereth-26). This is already produced at the US plant in Gurnee, Illinois. No volume or investment figures were disclosed.

A palm-free, glycerin-based humectant, Liponic EG-1 “is a staple ingredient in many highly conditioning skin care formulations”, the company claimed. Producing it in Europe will mean shortened lead times, better local availability and improved service levels, while also improving its carbon footprint.

Vantage describes Liponic EG-1 as “a multifunctional ingredient that can be used as a humectant, solubiliser, co-emulsifier and skin conditioning agent”, as well as in place of butylene glycol. “Liponic EG-1 provides the moisturising benefits of glycerin without the tackiness typically associated with this ingredient,” the firm added.
