Novel marine magnesium and trace minerals for skin

Oriel Marine outlines how its liquid Marine Magnesium Mineral extract outperform traditional minerals in terms of stability, bioavailability and biofunctionality

Dietary macro and trace minerals like magnesium, calcium, copper, zinc, nickel and manganese are nutrients critical to human skin and general health, performance and welfare. Skin health and nutrition for immunity, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and reproductive health, to name a few, depend on optimal macro and trace mineral nutrition. In recent years, magnesium is proving to be far and above the most important of these minerals, playing an important role in skin, hair and general health and wellbeing.

Almost everything we know about mineral nutrition, from inclusion levels to effects on skin health to performance, has come from studies using earth-sourced mineral salts. These mineral salts are made from a trace mineral loosely bound to a charged ion and have been the basis of trace mineral science and research since the 1930s. Recent studies, however, have been using a different form of macro and trace minerals, liquid marine minerals from a living deep sea source (organic and sustainably harvested source) and the results of those studies are challenging ideas once considered fundamental to skin, nutrition and health

The evidence points to marine sourced free ion macro and trace minerals as a superior source of minerals, but beyond that, we have observed unprecedented effects in humans using Oriel’s Magnesium Mineral Extract (INCI: Sea Water Extract) as the optimally formulated free-ion marine minerals. Free-ion, organically sourced minerals and trace elements are changing the way we look at skin health and nutrition overall as they exist in the free ionic form protected by a hydration shell (passive ionisation).
