Creating submicron emulsions simply

TRI-K Industries and Kemira have introduced NanoGel, a nanoemulsion chassis system that acts as an easy-to-use base for the development of elegant cosmetics with the benefits of nanotechnology.

Typically, manufacturing nanoemulsions requires plenty of time and the use of heat and high pressure equipment. With NanoGel, cosmetic formulators can achieve a full range of products using one basic formulation and a simple mixer or even a spatula.

Salvador Pliego, senior director of business development at TRI-K, commented: “NanoGel technology provides a simple process and system to create submicron emulsions from an easy-to-use, oil-in-water concentrate.”

Along with allowing formulators to create elegant, modern products with minimal effort, NanoGel offers other key benefits, such as minimised transepidermal water loss (TEWL), enhanced skin protection and penetration of actives, and an excellent skin feel. Three systems are currently available: NanoGel CCT, NanoGel CM and NanoGel UV.

  • TRI-K has also announced the appointment of Shawn Brown to its R&D department. As an R&D chemist, Shawn has valued experience and expertise in the cosmetics and personal care industry. He has a BA in biology.
