Sun-activated naturals for instant and long-term beauty

Fluorescent materials absorb light energy, and re-emit it at a longer wavelength. Fluorescence is used in a range of industries, including cosmetics. Usually, synthetic substances are employed.

In this article, we present the use of natural, UV activated, fluorescent active ingredients to deliver instant skin lightening and anti-redness; and overall skin brightening effects.

In one study, we used the natural green fluorescence of phytoene and phytofluene in the form of IBR-TCLC® (tomato colorless carotenoids), to deliver instant skin lightening and redness reduction. This was demonstrated in a placebo-controlled study using UV and full spectrum light photography and quantitative measures (colorimeter).

In a second study, we used the natural blue fluorescence of dragon fruit extract named IBR-Dragon® to deliver immediate and long-term overall skin brightening effects using both photographic demonstration and quantitative instrumental measurements.
