Polymer keeps hair in shape

At the In-Cosmetics 2011 trade show, March 29 to 31, 2011, in Milan, Bayer MaterialScience will present its new Baycusan C 1008 polyurethane dispersion for styling hair. The new film-forming polymer enables formulators to manufacture hair sprays with firm and lasting hold. Despite the dispersion’s strong fixing effect, hair styles secured by it retain a natural appearance, because the hair is neither stiff nor sticky.

Technology for sustainable manufacturing

Eastman Chemical Company introduces its GEM technology, a green manufacturing process that uses the US EPA’s 12 principles of green chemistry. Eastman is using its GEM Technology to launch ingredients in the colour cosmetic and skin care markets during first quarter 2011, with future product extensions into other markets and applications.

Naturals collaboration

The Union for Ethical BioTrade (UEBT) and The International Natural and Organic Cosmetic Association (NATRUE), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to help raise awareness of the importance of naturally sourced cosmetics products and the ethical trade in natural ingredients derived from biodiversity.
