HEV light health effects tackled
In response to recent scientific evidence suggesting that High Energy Visible (HEV) light is harmful to skin, Lipo Chemicals developed Liposhield, a patent pending ingredient that acts as an ‘umbrella’ to protect skin from the unhealthy effects of HEV light.
New sales director at Dr Straetmans

New micro bead initiatives
A&E Connock has unveiled a series of new initiatives designed to assist cosmetics formulators making the transition from micro beads to natural ingredients in their exfoliant products. The latest range offers an increased variety of functions and possibilities to the formulator, from the light abrasive effect of ground loofah to the more aggressive scrub qualities of pumice. Beads derived from jojoba and castor which, while white in colour, provide a natural and environmentally sustainable option, are also available in a variety of sizes.

Certified palm oil products

HEC capacity expanded
Ashland Specialty Ingredients has announced it will expand capacity at its Natrosol hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) production facility in Nanjing by 4000 metric tonnes, or approximately 40%, over the next 18 months.
Ecocert approval for four products
TRI-K Industries has announced four new raw materials that are now Ecocert approved: Baobab Tein NPNF, Quinoa Pro NPNF, Rice Tein NPNF and TRIglyphix Sense. These products can be used in any Ecocert or Cosmos compliant formulation.

The Asian Societies of Cosmetic Scientists has requested expressions of interest for participation in the 12th Biannual Conference of the ASCS 2015 to be held in Cairns, Australia from the 28-30 April. This includes platform, workshop, and poster presentations.

The organisers behind in-cosmetics Asia have announced a stand-out line up of speakers for the new South Korea International Conference, in association with Korea Cosmetics Association (KCA), taking place on 25 September in Seoul.

Management changes
Werner Breuers, board member of Lanxess AG and, up to now, responsible for the segments Performance Polymers and Advanced Intermediates, will leave the company at his own request after his contract ends on 31 May 2015, in order to pursue new challenges. Mr Breuers will leave the board of management with immediate effect. He will, however, remain in an advisory role to Lanxess for a transitional period.
Milan exhibition to return
The Making Cosmetics exhibition will return to the Centro Congressi Milanofiori in Milan on 24-25 November. The show has been fine- tuned after feedback on the highly successful exhibition last year to provide the attendees with the most useful and up-to-date information in an environment conducive to networking.
New member for ethical union
The personal care business unit of Naturex, manufacturer of natural ingredients to the cosmetic industry, has become the newest member of the Union for Ethical BioTrade.
