P2 Science unveils Citrolatum P

P2 Science has launched Citrolatum P, a 99% natural ingredient that is a 1:1 drop-in replacement for traditional petroleum-based materials.

This new product is powered by Citropol DE-4, P2’s award-winning, globally compliant and innovative high-viscosity polymeric emollient derived from renewable forestry byproducts.

Built on P2’s patented green chemistry platform, this launch expands the company’s portfolio of sustainable, high-performance ingredients for the global beauty and personal care market.

Citrolatum P reimagines one of the most widely used materials in personal care, petrolatum, through the lens of renewable chemistry.

Combining P2’s Citropol DE-4 with a unique blend of natural and naturally derived oils and waxes, including organic sunflower oil, hydrogenated jojoba oil, and an innovative new rice bran-derived natural plasticizer, Citrolatum P closely mimics the rich texture, occlusivity, and skin barrier benefits of conventional petrolatum while maintaining 99% naturality according to ISO 16128.

It can be used as a 1:1 drop-in replacement and has a similar melting point, providing formulators with an easy to use, sustainable upgrade that requires no compromise in performance or sensory experience.

“With Citrolatum P, we’re demonstrating how green chemistry can deliver both sustainability and superior performance,” said Oihana Elizalde, CEO of P2 Science.

“Our customers were looking for a high high-performance, plant-based petrolatum alternative that meets vegan standards, is globally compliant, and utilizes the best of green chemistry,” she added.

“Citrolatum P gives formulators a natural replacement for one of the most ubiquitous fossil-based ingredients in the industry and improves on the existing offerings in our portfolio. Formulators no longer need to choose between natural and functional.”
