Byome Labs raises €3.6m to market skin microbiome test

French startup Byome Labs has raised €3.6m to commericalise what is said to be the world’s first instant, point-of-sale skin microbiome measurement solution.

The funding will be used to industralise Byome Derma - a skin test that recommends the right skin care based on each individual’s unique microbiome.

Byome Labs’s solution involves skin microbiome sampling and measurement within minutes, directly at the point of sale.

Byome Derma is designed to integrate as a white-label solution within retail environments, allowing cosmetic and dermo-cosmetic brands to deliver a hyper-personalized customer experience validated by robust scientific data.

Using microbial diversity analysis via antigenic strips (similar to COVID tests), it offers product recommendations powered by dermatologist-trained AI - all without devices, without pain, and at an affordable cost.

The company is aiming to start industrial production of the first Byome Derma kits by the end of this year with international deployment in Europe, the US and Asia from 2026.

It also plans to strengthen its R&D team and opening new positions from next year.

“Scientific innovation only matters if it can serve the many. With this fundraising, we are scaling up to the industrial level and offering brands a new standard of instant skincare recommendations, based on biological data rather than guesswork,” said David Suissa, Founder & CEO of Byome Labs.
