Oriel Marine Extracts to present Hydrasphere study at in-cos Global

Irish personal care ingredient maker Oriel Marine Extracts will present the results of its latest clinical study for its Hydrasphere active at the in-cosmetics Global trade show on 8-10 April in Amsterdam.

The study combined Oriel’s Hydrasphere liquid magnesium, mineral and trace element matrix as an active ingredient in a face cream applied to one side of the face, with a placebo cream applied to the other side of the face over a three-month timeline.

In addition, and for the first time, this same active ingredient - which is also a food grade material - was taken orally by a cohort of the participants as a nutraceutical/supplement for the same period.

The results of the study, ‘Placebo-Controlled Assessment Of The Efficacy Of A Deep Sea Magnesium Complex In Topical Application And Its Synergy Of Use With A Deep Sea Magnesium Supplement In Improving Skin Conditions’ will be shared at booth EU124 at the RAI Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Oriel CEO Brian Fitzpatrick said: “This was a really challenging and exciting trial as we were not simply evaluating the impact of our Hydrasphere as a topical application, but also we had a cohort of the women also using our product as a liquid supplement, which delivered some really exciting and surprising results”.

Oriel holds global patents underpinned by more than seven years of clinical science extracting Hydrasphere from EU protected waters (PDO) while also being 100% natural, sustainable, organic and certified to GFSI FSSC ISO 22000/2.
