PQ Corp to expand silica production in Indonesia

US speciality chemicals producer PQ Corp has unveiled plans to expand silica production at its existing facility in Pasuruan, Indonesia.

The expansion includes the addition of a new micronizer and will enhance the company’s capabilities in the personal care, paints and coatings, and pharmaceutical end markets.

Once completed, the new equipment can support a wide variety of silica products to meet customers’ needs.

“This expansion is aligned with PQ’s Customer Focus core value and our track record of investing in our platform to best meet customers’ needs,” said Al Beninati, PQ chief executive.

“We’ll be able to increase our capacity in Asia and broaden our support to customers across several end markets,” he added.

Malvern, Pennsylvania-based PQ anticipates the expansion will be completed in mid-2024.
