Registration opens for UK SCS annual conference

The UK Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) has opened registration for its 2023 annual conference, which takes place in Cambridge on 4-5 July.

With the pressures of increased fuel costs and inflation bearing down on companies, this year’s event will ask how cosmetic science can help businesses to continue to deliver profitable growth and greater environmental sustainability.

The conference will tackle how ingredients and packaging are chosen to be maximise profitability and sustainability, and how formulations and methods of manufacture can be designed to save both costs and the environment.

Topics covered will include: ‘Winning an Earthshot Prize’, ‘The Role of Carbon in a Sustainable Supply Chain’, ‘Energy Efficient Production of Cosmetics’, and ‘UK and EU Chemicals Frameworks and Chemicals Strategies: Impact on Cosmetic Ingredients’.

Other topics include: ‘Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Game-changing Regulations for UK Packaging’, ‘B Corp – A Contract Manufacturer’s Journey’, ‘Keeping Pace with Policy – Upcoming Legislative Changes’ and ‘Formulating for Consumer Sustainability’.

SCS is inviting students and scientists new to the field of cosmetic science to the conference to present some of their contemporary research.

The organisation will offer free conference registration to 10-15 people. In addition, one person will be selected for an award.
