Kelco-Care diutan gum won a Innovation Zone Award silver award in the Functional Ingredients category at In-Cosmetics Korea in Seoul. The product, which is made by CP Kelco and licensed to Lubrizol Life Science – Beauty (LLS Beauty), was commended for its “excellence in covering a wider pH range at low use levels”.
Kelco-Care diutan gum is a water-soluble biopolymer produced by fermentation that is designed specifically for use in skin care, sun care and colour cosmetic formulations and is also suited to hair conditioners, hair treatments and hair colouring. According to Maxime Fougere, global marketing manager at LLS Beauty, described it “as a highly efficient rheology modifier that provides some of the highest levels of formulation stability offered from a biogum”.
“The ingredient has an immediate moisturising effect that can last all day, excellent stability at high temperature and strong pigment suspension capabilities, all of which help it meet the growing demand for naturally derived makeup,” Fougere added.
