Cargill Beauty has revealed that it is adding sustainable cocoa butter to its portfolio of nature-derived ingredients.  This is sourced exclusively from Ghana, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire using Cargill’s direct network of known farmers and farmer organisations through the Cargill Cocoa Promise, and is certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

The product itself is white, deodorised cocoa butter, which is also both biodegradable and 100% natural. It is used in skin care applications for the superior sensory qualities based on a “distinct crystal structure, which results in a fast melt that leaves skin smooth and silky”, the company said.

“We’re providing brands added assurance that our cocoa butter was produced in accordance with internationally recognised and independent standards for sustainable production,” said Marty Muenzmaier, Cargill’s sustainability and external affairs leader. “It’s the perfect addition to our nature-derived ingredient portfolio.”
