Multifunctional new skin care ingredient
Wilshire Technologies has released a new phytochemical skin care ingredient, Glabridin.
A minor component of Licorice root, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Linne, Glabridin is an isoflavane - a class of naturally occurring phenols – that is soluble in such organic solvents as ethanol, propylene glycol, propylene carbonate, etc.
Glabridin is a natural, gentle skin-lightening agent that is both rapid and effective, that simultaneously acts to block the action of the skin-darkening enzyme, tyrosinase. The inhibitory activity of Glabridin on tyrosinase is stronger than that of either arbutin, kojic acid, vitamin C or hydroquinone.
Glabridin also possess antiviral, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, antioxidant, and estrogen-like properties. A potent antioxidant, Glabridin is also a facile free-radical scavenger with humectant properties that act to moisturise dry skin. Glabridin is safe, effective and gentle skin care ingredient that it can be used in makeup formulations - even eye makeup -, hair care and other skin care products.
An exceptional antiinflammatory agent, Glabridin also aids in the treatment of acne by reducing redness and swelling, calming inflamed skin and killing inflammation-causing bacteria.
