Givaudan Active Beauty has been awarded for the second time this year for its innovation with the active ingredient Vegetan Gold at the annual SEPAWA congress in Fulda.
This award is the result of an evaluation from an independent team of experts, who selected Vegetan Gold from 20 finalists. Vegetan Gold has been crafted to offer formulators and brands the possibility to easily design distinctive crystal transparent self-tanning oil formulas. Once formulated in oil, Vegetan Gold shows a perfect and uniform spreading on skin, preventing the well-known “drop or stripe” effects of water formulas.
This innovative and sustainable active ingredient is fully compatible with sun filters and other oil-soluble active ingredients, for a straight forward integration in sun care lines. The dihydroxyacetone molecule is obtained by an integrated biotechnology fermentation process using plant sugar as sustainable carbon source. This green manufacturing process has been analyzed through a life cycle study according to the principles of ISO 14 040 and ISO 14 044 and demonstrated a reduction of 40% to 80% in the environmental impacts, including photo-oxidation, the use of non-renewable energy and water consumption.
