BRB is further expanding its silicone polyether portfolio

Silicone polyethers, also known as silicone surfactants, are synthesised to incorporate both silicone and water-soluble groups within the same molecule.

The result is a series of compounds with varying and controllable levels of solubility in oil, water and silicone. Silicone polyethers are amphiphilic compounds designed as emulsifiers to assist in the preparation of water-in-silicone or silicone-in-water emulsions. There are various types of silicone polyethers in the market, offering an array of HLB values.

BRB provides a range of silicone polyethers which can help formulators to formulate skin care, sun care and colour cosmetic products that deliver superior aesthetics, are cost-effective and have sensory benefits (with an array of viscosities).

The following polyethers are available in BRB’s assortment:

BRB 6373 (INCI: Cyclopentasiloxane (and) PEG/PPG 18/18 Dimethicone):
A 10% dispersion of high molecular weight silicone surfactant in cyclopentasiloxane. It is especially designed to formulate water-in-silicone emulsion and emulsify high concentration of internal phase. Make very stable formulation with light & pleasant feel of skin care products, sun care products, anti-ageing products, colour cosmetics and antiperspirants. The water-in-silicone emulsion can be prepared using cold process (HLB value 2).

BRB 526 (PEG-12 Dimethicone):
It is a silicone polyether which soluble in water, alcohol and hydro alcoholic systems. It is used as a surface tension depressant, wetting agent, plasticiser of hair styling resin and emulsifier. It provides a very stable formulation and suitable to formulate in shampoo, hair styling products and skin care emulsions. It provides good spreadability and smooth feel (HLB value 13).

BRB 6341 (PEG-10 Dimethicone):
A silicone polyether specially designed to prepare low viscosity water-in-silicone emulsion leaving a light & silky skin-feel. It can be used as an emulsifier or co-emulsifier to prepare skin care products and colour cosmetic products. The water-in-silicone emulsion can be prepared using cold process (HLB value 4-5).

BRB 423 (Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone):
This is an alkyl modified silicone polyether, specially developed to formulate water-in-oil emulsion with good stability, flexibility and aesthetic. Both alkyl (hydrophobic) and polyether (hydrophilic) groups on a silicone backbone allows BRB 423 to be an elegant silicone emulsifier for preparation of night cream, baby cream, moisturising cream and lotion, and foundation. BRB 423 is able to prepare stable water-in-oil emulsions with various type of polar and non-polar oil and high concentrations of water. The water-in-oil emulsion can be prepared using cold process or hot process depending on the oil phase (HLB value 5).

BRB 523 (PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone):
A silicone polyether which is soluble in water, alcohol and hydro alcoholic systems. It acts as a surface tension depressant, wetting agent, and co-emulsifier in a wide variety of cosmetic and personal care products formulations such as hair sprays, skin care lotions and perfumes impart soft, silky and smooth feel to skin and hair (HLB value 8).
