Our Story so far
Statfold Seed Oil was established 20 years ago. We began life on our own working farm based in rural Staffordshire growing arable crops. In the early 90s, farming was at a low and alternatives where being sought to add value to farms.
Starting off as a small cottage industry statfold began to produce high-quality flax, borage, hemp and evening primrose oils. An early decision was made to gain the UK Soil Association’s organic standard. Now able to supply and produce organic oils, we soon became a producer and supplier not only to the food market but also the cosmetics market. We quickly discovered opportunities for bottled oil and private labelled oils so took the initiative to invest in a bottle filling and labelling line and gained several brands instantly.
As we became more and more well known for supplying such oils, our ingredients business began to grow rapidly, adding more innovative seed and fruit oils to our product list along with a vast range of globally sourced ingredients used in the personal care industries. We then discovered the need for small batch refining; this led us to develop our unique small-run refining and deodorising process.
By 2000 our operation included produced, globally sourced ingredients, contract filling and private label as well as bulk serving the personal care and food markets. Today will still grow borage, camelina, and flax on our farm, all of which are used in a variety of cosmetic formulations.
2011- New Health and Beauty Contract Manufacturing.
With the Organic and Natural Beauty industry booming and the knowledge we had gained supplying, producing, sourcing and stocking many of the ingredients used in health and beauty formulations combined that we already operate a variety of filling machines we decided that our next step would be to invest further in updating our premises to meet the high standards required for health and beauty manufacturing this also included a fully operational laboratory once this was completed the installation of our mixing vessels could begin along with new filling machines including tubes and fully automated versatile filling lines. Today we offer a full contract Development Service combined with full Regulative service incorporating ISO 22716(GMP), ISO9001 UK Soil Association Organic Accreditation.
