AA2G (INCI: Ascorbyl Glucoside) is a highly stable vitamin C derivative produced by combining vitamin C and glucose, and was first industrialized in the world by Nagase Viita using its proprietary enzyme technology. As a formulation-friendly, sustainably manufactured vitamin C derivative, it has been used worldwide since its launch in 1995.
While maintaining high stability within formulations, it gradually releases vitamin C as skin enzymes cleave the glucose molecule upon application. This continuous release of vitamin C makes AA2GTM an ideal ingredient for maximizing the skin benefits of vitamin C in personal care products.
Experimental data
Treatment of ascorbyl glucoside can maintain the intracellular vitamin C level for a longer period compared to vitamin C, since ascorbyl glucoside gradually releases vitamin C and is taken up by cells.
Methods: NHDF (Normal Human Dermal Fibroblasts) were incubated in the media with 1 mmol/L vitamin C or ascorbyl glucoside for 8 days. Each intracellular vitamin C level was measured on day 0, 1, 2, 5 and 8.
