Osaka event to explore significant changes

The 24th International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) International Congress will be held in Osaka, Japan from 16 to 19 October 2006 at the Osaka International Convention Center, and will explore significant developments and changes in the cosmetic sector.

This will be the third time that the IFSCC event will be held in Japan, and the theme this year will be “Integration of cosmetic sciences”.

Yoshimaru Kumano Ph D, president of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Japan and organising committee chairman of the 24th IFSCC Congress, said: “We look forward to welcoming the IFSCC back to Japan for the first time since the Yokohama Congress 14 years ago.

“As we enter the 21st Century, we are indeed at the dawn of a new era: focus in our society is now shifting from such typical 20th Century values as power and industry, and masculinity and youth, to age, experience and wisdom, and gentleness and femininity. Against this background, cosmetic products are gradually proving capable of fulfilling new societal roles in line with the changing society.”

He added that, in this time of change, “the SCCJ will welcome cosmetic chemists from the world over to Osaka in an international congress to discuss the latest developments in cosmetic chemistry.”
