Description
Creating highly viscous or soft-solid oil phases without losing the sensorial profile is a task not easy to accomplish. dermofeel® viscolid is a vegetable thickener for oil phases giving excellent results for this kind of product. It is an easy to use raw material that is simply added to the oil phase, melted and, upon cooling, creates a fine network that increases the viscosity up to a soft-solid texture. Most importantly for this application is that the skin feel of the oil in the final formulation is not altered. dermofeel® viscolid creates soft-solid oil gels that melt on the skin. Many different oils have been evaluated as well as mixtures thereof and essential oils. The gelling effect of dermofeel® viscolid works with vegetable oils, ester oils or paraffin oils and various mixtures. With increasing dosage of dermofeel® viscolid the viscosity increases and prevents liquid oil products from dripping or converts them to soft solid products when preferred. The aspect of oil gels with dermofeel® viscolid is slightly opaque. Thickening of W/O-emulsions can be done with dermofeel® viscolid without losing the original skin feel of the cream. A soft creamy texture will be maintained without a waxy or sticky skin feel often produced by other thickeners. INCI: Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Oil
