Wide array of innovations

Croda will once again be attending the in-cosmetics trade show in Barcelona and will present their latest product launches and initiatives on Stand 6D40.

Croda will be launching at this year’s exhibition Cithrol 10GTIS, a highly effective and mild surfactant used to create luxurious advanced facial cleansers. Inspired by the East, it allows the use of skin care oils to gently and efficiently cleanse and soften the skin, while being easily rinsed off with water. Cithrol 10GTIS allows the formulation of crystal clear facial cleansers made up of oil and water in a microemulsion, maintaining the perfect hydro-lipophilic balance required for this type of high performance system.

New for in-cosmetics, Croda will also showcase two recent launches derived from ‘superfood’ sources. Superfoods have become increasingly popular Croda’s 40 years of experience in proteins helped to develop Crodasone P and Hydrosativum P, two new biopolymers derived from the superfood Pisum sativum or ‘pea’ that not only meet the trend but provide functional benefits to final products.  Crodasone P offers proven protection against cuticle cracking caused by common hair styling practices such as blow-drying, combing and styling. Hydrosativum P immerses the skin with moisture and has anti-irritancy properties, making it ideally suited for skin and scalp care.

For superior scalp and skin care, Croda will demonstrate some exiting new data and regulatory approvals for a number of its ingredients.

The new data for DuraQuench IQ SA shows it can deliver effective scalp moisturisation and hair conditioning benefits. DuraQuench IQ SA also helps to reinforce the skin’s natural barrier and delivers up to 72-hours of visible moisturisation and is also effective from wash-off systems, where it provides additional sensorial benefits. It is an innovative approach to effective moisturisation for both the skin and scalp.

Meeting the growing consumer need for mild and gentle cleansing products, new data for CromollientSCE demonstrates it has the ability to mitigate skin irritation caused by surfactants and enhances sensory benefits in a wide range of applications. In addition to being exceptionally mild, Cromollient SCE provides a silky skin after feel and enhances slip, while being suitable for clear systems.

Croda have also received Ecocert approval of two transparent grades of mineral UV filters, Solaveil CT-300 (Titanium Dioxide) and Solaveil CZ-300 (Zinc Oxide). Ideal for daily wear skin care, these actives meet consumers’ expectations by leaving no white residue on skin and when used in combination provide broad-spectrum protection for sun care formulations. Solaveil Clarus is great news for companies seeking natural certification for their UV protection product.

For the hair care market, Croda will also be highlighting its newly rebranded Kerestore 2.0, a highly specialised conditioning active, which is proven to offer target repair to the most damaged areas of the hair’s surface. Developed using the most recent advances in proteomics, the amino acid sequences of the peptides found in Kerestore 2.0 match those present in the keratin proteins found in cuticular and cortical regions of human hair. This product was rebranded to better highlight the restoring benefits of its unique biomimetic keratin, while providing a greater individual identity within the marketplace.

The OleoCraft Polymers, a range of oil structuring polymers that create impressive films providing water and wear resistance in colour cosmetic and sun care applications will also be shown during the exhibition. The OleoCraft polymer range is a group of low colour and low odour high performance thermoplastic solids, proven to form crystal clear gels. The products cover a wide range of high to low polarity oils and can be used to create novel formats, from eye-catching clear sticks and balms to sprayable gels and emulsions with real consumer benefits.

Sustainable Palm continues to remain important for Croda and addressing the social and environmental issues associated with Palm Oil (PO) and Palm Kernel Oil (PKO) has been a priority for Croda for over 8 years. The complexities of the PO/PKO derivatives market has been particularly challenging, but we are committed to supporting the physical supply chain by moving to RSPO’s Mass Balance model by the end of 2015. This important progressive step allows customers to purchase material that contributes to the production of sustainable palm oil material, which in time should create momentum towards segregated sustainable PO and PKO derivatives. By 2017 Croda aspires to only process and supply RSPO certified palm oil products.

Finally, as part of the Turkey and Middle East theme of in-cosmetics, Croda will be able to offer a range of certified Halal ingredients. The demand for beauty and personal care products from the Muslim population is fuelling a worldwide growth in Halal cosmetics and Croda are committed to delivering cosmetic ingredients which meet the religious beliefs of both our customers and the consumer. With a variety of high performance cosmetic ingredients, from rheology modifiers to emulsifying waxes or lanolin derivatives that are approved as Halal and suitable for the Muslim population, Croda can offer Halal-seeking manufacturers a broad range of suitable ingredients.
